Photos: Nigeria Now Has a National Carrier! See The Nigerian Eagle plane .

This should be good news right! at least something nice is finally happening in the Nigerian aviation sector. or how would you term a whole giant of Africa not having a national carrier..well it has happened. One of Nigeria's oldest airline, Aero Contractors has changed its name to Nigerian Eagle and will soon be commissioned as the national carrier.
Thisday reported some days back that the airline will be unveiled this coming Sunday as the nation's national carrier by President Goodluck Jonathan on his return from the UK.
sources reportedly told Thisday that "There will not be Aero Contractors anymore. It is now Nigerian Eagle and it will be launched on Sunday by Mr. President. You will not see Aero anymore after the launch of this airline”, claiming that the Federal Government owns 60%  share of the airline, with the Ibru family owning the remaining 40%.
A Boeing 737-500 painted in the  Nigerian national colors is currently parked in a private hangar at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. T
he new national carrier will be launched in a few days.
