Africa Fashion Week Nigeria set to showcase young local talents!
Several young Nigerian designers along with some talented foreign names are prepping up to showcase their exquisite lines of apparel designs of Trendy clothing for men, and tops for women , T-Shirts, and everything that can be called or labelled fashion and style at the forthcoming inaugural edition of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN).
Scheduled to take place from May 17 to 18, 2014, the event aims to serve as a platform to promote and support fresh up and coming local talents.
Home-grown labels like Isi Atagamen, House of Marie, Jedidah and Long Feet Boutique will showcase their latest creations at the two-day-long soiree.
Other participants of the fashion do include Zarita Kouture, Ijay’s Collections, Zadira Africa, Magnetic Elegance, Mademoiselle Anglaia, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, BigBen, Buchiver and Didi Creations.
In its efforts to promote Nigerian fashion on the global stage, the AFWN organisers have also partnered with the country’s popular online shopping site Jumia, which will host pre-event workshops to educate the design participants about entrepreneurship skills and how to reach their target audience through online sales marketing tools.
The e-commerce destination, which has recently launched an exclusive Nigerian fashions selling shop named By-Naija, will also announce the winners of the best emerging designer titles at the glitzy soiree.

While speaking on the partnership, Ronke Ademiluyi, the AFWN organiser said, “We are also glad about this partnership and how it leads us to working with great Nigerian fashion brands. This partnership will act as a distribution channel for our designers, and ensure that their brands are readily available. The future of fashion will come from Nigeria and we hope to discover it at this year’s AFW.”

Founded in 2012, the Lagos-headquartered company Jumia offers more than 20,000 fashion items. The firm owns offices in Nigeria and Egypt.
