Police smashes vehicle registration syndicate in Plateau state.

A syndicate that specialised in forging vehicle registration particulars and driving licences has been nabbed by men of the Plateau State Police Command.

The syndicate was smashed by the Jos Metro Area Command,   led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Charles Ezeala.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nasiru Oki, and the Chairman of the Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Samuel Pam, lauded the efforts of the policemen who apprehended the two-man gang at Ahmadu Bello Way.



Oki said the command would rid the state of undesirable elements, adding that the culprits would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

Pam said the activities of the syndicate had been a serious source was of concern to the board, stating that they had deprived the state of internally-generated funds.

He said the activities of the syndicate were being helped some members of the public, who preferred to patronise touts.

He added that with the recent computerisation of the board’s activities, renewal and issuance of car registration papers through autoreg would take minutes.

Among the items recovered from the syndicate were printing and laminating machines, fake driving licences, and hundreds of passport photographs.
