Thieving Inlaws caught after operation.

Inlaws,Odeh Joseph and Hamza Mohammed were arrested by the Oyo State Police Command after snatching a Toyota Camry car in Lagos State and heading towards Onitsha, Anambra State.
Joseph and Mohammed are in-laws, as the former’s sister is informally married to the latter, with a child between them. Recovered from them was the Toyota Camry car.

Briefing journalists on the arrest of the suspects on Thursday July 16, 2015, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Muhammad Musa Katsina said:
“The suspects attacked a woman, Amaka Ogwu, snatched her vehicle at gun point and still held her captive. They took her to a bank, forced her to use her Automated Teller Machine credit card to withdraw the sum of N35,000. They didn’t stop at that; they took her to Ogere in Ogun State where they tied her and left her to her fate at midnight.
“It was while they were escaping with their loot that they made the mistake of using Oyo State as a route of escape. Unfortunately for them, Oyo State Police Command has intimidating security structures on ground.
Immediately they arrived in our territory, my ambush squad which was on surveillance along Lagos-Ibadan expressway got them.
“They were arrested and, in the course of investigation, they told us how they planned and executed their operation,” Katsina stated.
One of the suspects, Joseph Odey (24), an indigene of Benue State, confessed to Crime Reports during an interview that he and his sister’s lover actually committed the crime. According to Joseph,
“we snatched the car from a woman at Alakija area of Lagos State. Unfortunately, on our way through Ibadan to Onitsha where the buyer was waiting for us, we were arrested at Ibadan Toll Gate area by policemen.”
Narrating how the robbery operation was carried out, the suspect said that
“at about 10p.m. on July 11, we used a motorcycle to block the woman’s way as she drove through her neighbourhood. We ordered her to disembark from the vehicle, a Toyota Camry, and she complied with our directive. We also asked her to surrender her car key and she did.
“We put her back in the car and took her to an ATM to withdraw money from her account for us. She withdrew N35,000 and gave it to us, out of which we bought fuel worth N8,000. After leaving the ATM, we took her to Ogere Remo axis in Ogun State and asked her to alight from the car. This was around 12 midnight.
“We continued on our journey, with the intention to sleep in Ibadan, planning to move to Onitsha in the morning. But we were arrested by the police.”
He claimed that it was his first time of operating on his own to snatch a car but revealed that one Matthew had once given the key of a car to drive down to Onitsha. “I didn’t know that it was a stolen car. He gave me N40,000 for driving. Matthew was the one who introduced me to car snatching,” Joseph stated further.
His partner-in-crime, Mohammed, who claimed that he was living at Oke Afon, Lagos State before his arrest also told Crime Reports.
“This is my first time of joining a gang for robbery. The idea was introduced to me by Joseph. We used a toy gun to scare our victim. We were actually three in number but one of us escaped when policemen were searching the vehicle.”
